Small weddings have risen in popularity way before the time of Covid-19. More and more couples choose to personalize the experience of their wedding and spend it only with the people dear to them. While a micro wedding is a great choice because of its incredibly special and intimate atmosphere, couples are now also considering a new wedding trend – the “minimony”. So, what is this new trend all about?
- It is a simple commitment ceremony. Minimony means a mini ceremony where you share a moment of commitment with the person you love. It can be celebrated to honor your original wedding date with the presence of at least ten people, including your officiant and chosen suppliers.
- It is different from a micro wedding. A micro wedding includes up to fifty guests including close family members and friends. Though the idea of choosing a micro wedding is to save money, some couples now opt to spend a full budget on the location and other items but with lesser people. Whereas, a minimony wedding includes simpler experiences for the couple like having the first dance in the middle of the living room with dim lights and exchanging handwritten vows in front of their families.
- It is eventually followed by a sequel wedding. Minimonies allow couples to celebrate their union. But a sequel wedding brings the original wedding plans to life – more guests, a bigger ceremony, and fancier reception! It can be celebrated after the pandemic, or for some couples, they celebrate sequel weddings for cultural and religious reasons.
At the time of the pandemic, couples can still celebrate and remember their wedding day through flexible and creative minimonies. This way, they can get the chance to honor their love in a private and sentimental location that best reflects them as a couple.
